Perceptual Neuroscience Lab

Department of Clinical Neuroscience, Division of Psychology

Karolinska Institutet

”The overarching goal of our research is to determine the neural and behavioral function of the olfactory system (smell). To this end, several different lines of ongoing research explore various aspects of these questions using a wide range of experimental methods, including psychophysical and behavioral tests, functional brain imaging (fMRI and EEG/ERP), structural brain imaging, and psychophysiological measures.”

Perceptual Neuroscience Lab

The overarching goal of our research is to determine the neural and behavioral function of the systems of smell, taste and trigeminal sensations, and how they interact with the other senses to interpret our environment in health and disease. To this end, several different lines of ongoing research explore various aspects of these questions using a wide range of experimental methods, including psychophysical and behavioral tests, functional brain imaging (fMRI and EEG/ERP), structural brain imaging, and psychophysiological measures.

Electrobulbogram measure

January 30, 2020

Our group has developed a method to measure functional signal from the human olfactory bulb in awake healthy individuals. Read more about the method in our publication in Nature Communication by clicking on the link below

Our team

The lab consists of members born in multiple countries and with background from a wide array of academic fields, such as psychology, neuroscience, engineering, neurochemistry, medicine, and psychiatry. To see who we are and to learn more about individual members, click the link below or visit our team page at the top of the page. If you have an interest in joining the lab, reach out, but positions are dependent on funding. We have multiple ongoing research programs and can provide ideas and/or data towards grant applications towards funding a position in the lab
